On July 25 2020, Senior Lecturer at the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Bucharest Ruxandra Folostina presented the Train-ASD project at the TV show Present in Education on VTv channel. |
VTv is a local television channel in Vâlcea, a city with very few training opportunities for teachers and specialists working with children on the autism spectrum. Being a socially disadvantaged area, the Train-ASD project has contributed substantially to promoting information about the access of autistic children to an inclusive educational environment, ways to stimulate communication, and types of useful interventions for autistic children.
The impact of the presentation was high. As there are not many resources for these children with in the Vâlcea County, the information presented on television helped a lot the parents from that area. Besides, many specialists were very interested in the pedagogical methods that can be applied when having an autistic pupil in the classroom and how to deal with behavioral disorders.
The launch of the Train-ASD e-Learning platform, foreseen for September 2020, is long awaited in disadvantaged areas, as it is one of the cheapest and more effective tools of disseminating information, and more in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic.
